Oh, seniors are a very special audience, but they only magnify the usual teaching experience and they’re quicker to be appreciative. However, I know what it’s like to walk into a room ready to impart useful knowledge to people and have to face the fact that they have their own agenda. The most frustrating to me was the inevitable frustrated influencer whose boss didn’t buy the copier, fax or phone system they’d suggested. Their goal was to make me and my equipment look inferior to whatever they had preferred. Not much you can do about that, but live through it. I could usually win them over, eventually, but that first training session was always pure hell.

I was thinking about this when I wrote this post. The seniors at this center are no different than any other type of audience. I just wasn’t used to it. Teachers everywhere face this situation every day. Jane, thank you.
