Smart Toilets

All kidding aside, smart toilets are all the rage. While a number of my friends are installing these new luxury toilets in their homes, to the tune of a few thousand dollars, many of you don’t even know they exist.

Watch this video from a top manufacturer, Toto, which gives you a blow-by-blow (no pun intended) description of what actually takes place when you sit on a smart toilet. Don’t be shy, watch it.

A friend secretly confided to me that ever since he has been using a smart toilet, he feels he has the cleanest rear-end in town and the rest of us are walking around with dirty bottoms. I assured him I use baby wipes and he said, it just doesn’t compare to the sanitary powers of a smart toilet.

For example:

Air dryer
Heated seating

Foot warmer

Automatic flush

Remote control

Self-cleaning features

Built-in sensors that alert you to possible tank leaks

Self-deodorizer

Emergency flushing system during power outages

Nightlight

Slow closing lid

Bluetooth and MP3 capabilities so you can listen to tunes while you go

CNET recently had a story on smart toilets if you are interested in learning more.

  1. These are the standard toilets in Japan. They are in almost every home and almost every public restroom. In public restrooms, they have wave sounds and other white noise so the people in adjacent stalls can’t hear each other. It makes the rest of the world look barbaric. We are buying one as soon as we get back.
